The Swallowtail Shawl

Tämä valloittava huivi valmistui jo kesähelteillä, mutta vasta tuloaan tekevän talven kunniaksi sain sen viimein pingotettua.
This mesmerising shawl was knitted during the summer heats but not until for the name of the becoming winter I finally got it finished.

Pingotusta. Huivista tuli sen verran iso, että oli haasteellista löytää tarpeeksi suurta alustaa pingotukselle. Lopulta käytin alustana 80 cm leveää runkopatjaa, josta siitäkin pituus loppui vähän kesken.
The final size of the shawl is so large that it was difficult to find the underlay big enough for blocking. Finally I used 80 cm wide mattress even though it was a bit too short after all.

Lopputulos oli kaunis ja saaja tyytyväinen. Melko varmasti teen tällaisen myös itselleni jossain vaiheessa.
The result was beautiful and recipient pleased. I'm quite certain that I will do one for my self one day.

Malli on siis suosittu Swallowtail Shawl Ravelrysta. Tein huivista hieman alkuperäistä ohjetta suuremman, mutta laiskuuttani en kirjoita tähän kuinka se tapahtui. Halukkaille voin kyllä vinkata englanninkielisestä sivusta, josta löytyy hyvät ohjeet. ;)
Lankana Hjertegarn Merinosilk, 60%villaa, 20%bambua, 20%silkkiä. 150m=50g. Menekki n. 180 g. Puikkosuositus langalle on 3-3½, mutta pitsimäisen lopputuloksen takaamiseksi käytin numeroa 6. Ihanan pehmeä lanka, joskin hieman nukkaa alussa. Reunakuvion terävät muodot näyttäisivät säilyvän, vaikka lanka onkin pehmeää.
The pattern is popular Swallowtail Shawl from Ravelry. The final size of the shawl is a bit larger than the original pattern but because I'm lazy I won't write here how it happened. For the ones who are iterested I can give tip of an English website with fine instructions. ;)

Yarn Hjertegarn Merinosilk, 60%wool, 20%bamboo, 20%silk. 150m=50g. Final weigh ca. 180 g. Recommendation for the needle size is 3-3½ but to guarantee the lacy texture I used size 6. The yarn is lovely soft even though it might give away a little fluzz at first. The sharp shaped pattern of the edging seems to last regadless the softness of the yarn.
